Operations Committee

Workday priorities: weeding; clearing paths around plots + main garden paths

Compost Toilet: Sand and stain (weather permitting)/check in on fan

Wood Pile: Separate bad wood in pile for pick up

Harvest Fest crafts (painting pots, smudging sticks), can also paint signs for plots

Produce donation, gather produce from Margaret’s plot & take to Fort Greene market to donate to City Harvest/Brooklyn Teen Challenge
Membership Committee

Do your Open Hours! Try and do one 2-hour shift per month. Remember you need to do 4 shifts per season

No partying in the garden after 9 pm! Please be quiet and considerate, inform other members via email, and keep the garden gate open.

Always keep garden gates open while inside the garden, part of our commitment to the committee is to keep gates open as much as possible.
Treasurer

Sixty percent of members have paid dues; the rest of you, get it done! If you have financial hardship, talk to Robert and we’ll work something out.
Events Committee

Coffee + donuts community events on Saturdays in August, open hours credit.

Saturday, Oct. 6th is the Harvest Fest! Volunteer & receive a workday credit.
Other Business

Please pick up litter in the garden & outside the gates when you see it.

Brown city compost bins are only for dairy, meat, oily foods, large seeds (avocado, mango, jackfruit), thorny plants, invasives, paper

Receive an open hours credit for watering all common areas + welcome garden in front of gates, and fill all water barrels, must keep gates open.

Put half a dunk ring in each water barrel—helps keeps mosquitoes out. If you get a dunk ring in your watering can, return it to barrel.

Always close the barrels tightly to prevent mosquitoes breeding, dump any sitting water, store watering cans upside down

BQLT Updates:

BQLT’s Annual Bike & Walking Tour is on Saturday, Sept. 15! The tour kicks off at 2pm, and will be followed by a 5pm afterparty at the People’s Garden in Bushwick. There’ll be food, drinks, music, and lots of fellow gardeners! Email Kim for more info and how to register: kimberlylightbody@gmail.com
